ARTISAN provides 3 different hardness of the middle layer(sponge) with same running surface.
The idea was inspired from table tennis racket. Table tennis racket rubber(surface) has various types.
Rubber has different in hardness, resilience, as well as surface tissue, and each combination makes
different operability feeling. This is to meet the individual’ play styles.
There’s many players, and each has different taste. Multi-hardness is try to provide best possible
selection to each customer’s different taste.
Not “which is better” but “the difference in the characteristic”
Operability difference from hardness is not “which is better” but “the difference in the characteristic”.
Please understand the difference for your best liking.
Why the hardness changes operability?
Materials with flexibility, such as the sponge is deformed by the load (plastic deformation).
Mouse, the arm of the weight, movement of the mouse, stop movement etc. will slightly deformes the surface shape due to downward load.
This will change the coefficient of friction, and we leverage that, to make changes to the operability.
Speed of the slip of mouse, stable movements & stopping
Speed: Hard > Soft
Stable movements: Hard > Soft
Stopping performance: Hard < Soft
Hard is faster to slip including the initial move. Hard makes solid feeling and can parallel move.
There is no pitch sense of subtle up, down, left and right, such as a ship. Stable and accurate mouse movement is possible.
XSOFT ![]() ![]()
Due to the softness, resistance tend to occur like go over the mountain.
Speed suppressed and easily operable.
Soft operability prevent damage from long hours of playing.

SOFT ![]() ![]()
It is not too hard and not too soft.
Well balanced speed and stability.
Recommended to feel ARTISAN’ standard operability. |
MID ![]() ![]()
Solid feeling, but not as hard as plastic.
Ideal for those prefer the solid feeling.
Enough initial movement speed.
This hardness is often preferred by overseas players. |
